PETA Spokeswoman Pam Anderson to Attend Steakhouse Opening

In these hard economic times, apparently even the celebrities are suffering and have to take what little work and paid appearances they can scrounge up. The latest word on the street is that Pamela Anderson, a well-known celebrity spokesman for PETA, has been booked to appear at the opening for a gentleman’s club slash steakhouse. While we’re sure she’d be right at home amongst the scantily clad strippers, the place is still a STEAKhouse.
Can we say hypocrite? She is apparently willing to sacrifice her beliefs for cold-hard cash. The actress/model has posed naked for PETA’s “I’d rather go naked…” anti-fur campaign, and has been one of the animal rights group’s biggest spokespeople. Heck, she’s oven spoken out on behalf of chickens!
So what’s PETA think of their top spokeswoman attending a steakhouse opening? Apparently they don’t care all that much, which sort of makes them hypocrites too. A publicist for the group said:
“Per your item today regarding Pamela Anderson, please note that Pam is not a host but may be attending as an invited guest, and since steakhouses nowadays have some of the best salad bars and veggie options around, we’re sure she’ll find plenty to eat should she attend.”
Invited guests that are celebrities are also paid large chunks of money to attend parties such as these, which means Pammy is in a sense supporting the slaughter of cows for meat by attending.
Also appearing for the Sapphire New York opening, which is a part of the Prime 333 Steakhouse on the Uppper East Side, on April 27 is “The Hills” Audrina Patridge and former “Sopranos” star Steve Schirripa (he played Bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri on the show). It’s safe to assume that they’re getting paid to be there too.
Lindsay Lohan’s ex, Samantha Ronson, will be spinning the tunes, so it’s a given that Lindsay won’t be allowed in.
