Georgetown has the pressure of a national TV audience, a packed house of 20,039 at the Verizon Center, and the still-fresh sting of a loss at Syracuse on Monday coming into their game against Duke on Saturday. And then, the President of the United States — Barack Obama — took a seat courtside.

President Obama arrived just three minutes before tip-off with an entourage in tow. Amongst his contingent were Vice President Joe Biden, top adviser David Axelrod and press secretary Robert Gibbs.

No. 7 Georgetown handed No. 8 Duke an 89-77 defeat.

Ch-ch-ch-chia!   As Barack Obama was sworn in as the first minority president of the United States earlier this year, the onslaught of Obama commemorative and special edition merchandise began.  Amongst one of the coolest (admit it, you’ve always wanted a Chia Pet!) Obama themed products to hit store shelves was the Obama Chia Head. Some consumers, however, have found the Chia to be “objectionable”, and now Chicago and Tampa-area Walgreens stores, who were test marketing the Chia, are pulling the limited edition Chia from stores.

Chia Pets founder Joseph Pedott, however, says he has no plans to stop production of the green-haired President.

“Since when is an Afro racist? Owners can trim Chia Obama’s ‘hair’ to any length they want,” he explained.

Pretty soon, the controversial Chia Heads should be available in New York.  Pedott explains that he is currently in negotiations with NY-based drug stores to send shipments over ASAP.

“As quickly as they can take them, we will send them,” said Pedott.

The limited edition Obama Chia Head is available in two editions – “Happy” and “Determined.”  Each features the campaign slogan “Yes We Can”, and the words “liberty”, “opportunity”, “prosperity”, and “hope” on the front.  Both are available for just $19.99 at select drugstores and the Chia website.
