Homewrecker Oksana Pochepa, who we reported last week was the reason behind Mel Gibson’s trip to divorce court, is a household name in her native country of Russia. Before Gibson got the goods (and the boot from his wife of nearly 3 decades) the whole country of Russia got to see her in their addition of Maxim magazine. While she is unarguably attractive, I don’t think a few nights of passion (pardon the pun) were worth a $500 Million divorce.

On Monday, Mel Gibson’s wife Robyn dropped a bombshell on the actor/director and the rest of the world – she filed divorce papers after 28 years of marriage! After the dust began to settle somewhat later in the day, pictures began resurfacing from last year that showed Mel paling around Boston and Costa Rica with a Russian woman by the name of Oksana, who is allegedly the reason behind the couple’s split. Now, Oksana is speaking out, and denies that she is the reason behind the Gibson’s now broken marriage.

We now know that Oksana’s full name is Oksana Kolesnikova, and she’s a Russian singer. She vehemently denies the rumors that she had an affair with Mel, insisting that she has only ever enjoyed a professional relationship with the movie star. I wonder how she explains the passionate embraces and kissing then?

A rep for Oksana said:

“Sorry to hear about Mel Gibson’s divorce. Somehow Oksana is being linked to Mr. Gibson’s (sic), but there are no emotional ties between the two that I am aware of.

“Oksana has in the past entertained Mr. Gibson with her piano music as he dined at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I definitely welcome the opportunity to set the record straight. Our Oksana is not romantically involved with Mr. Gibson.”

After 28-years together, Mel Gibson and his wife Robyn have most certainly endured some trying times together.  But with divorce papers filed and proceedings on the horizon, one can’t help but wonder just what kind of “irreconcilable differences” pushed these two apart.  The answer most likely lies in an affair Gibson is alleged to have had with a Russian beauty by the name of Oksana, with whom he was first photographed last year in Boston.

The two were alleged to have avoided making public appearances together while Gibson was filming “Edge of Darkness” in Boston, but paparazzi said that they spent a considerable amount of time together in his trailer, on his lunch breaks, and at his room in the Ritz Carlton.  They are even said to have flown back to Los Angeles together on Gibson’s private jet.

The passionate affair is said to have continued on through 2009, and Gibson was less shy about showing his affection for Oksana while at one of his homes in Costa Rica.  The couple were photographed embracing seaside and kissing eachother while frolicking on the beach.

Mel says that he and Robyn became separated in 2006, but Robyn alleges the date of seperation to be much later.  The later the date, the more money she’ll be able to get out of the divorce.  The couple had no prenuptial agreement when they wed.

Mel Gibson and his wife of 28 years are getting divorced,  according to Access Hollywood. The report states that the couple has sent a confirmation that reads:

“Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so,” the Gibsons said in a joint statement released to Access on Monday.

Robyn Gibson, who met Mel in 1980, drew up the papers on Thursday and filed them the court document this morning.

TMZ says the reason for split is the generic  “irreconcilable differences”. We’ll update this story as they come in….
